How to move your stuff easily from Windows PC to Apple Mac

How to move your stuff easily from Windows PC to Apple Mac:

Heads up Mac newbies....you need NOT spend $50 on this software to move your PC files to your nice new Mac. A simple ethernet cable and a little know-how is all you need.

Windows users, frustrated with patches for patches that patch patches, service packs that break their programs, rampant virus and worm attacks, spyware and adware polluting their PCs, the counterintuitive Windows user interface, waiting forever for the stripped-down 'Longhorn,' and more, are now looking to upgrade to new Apple Macintosh personal computers running the latest version of the world's most advanced operating system, Mac OS X.

If you're thinking about upgrading to Mac or just...

Airport Extreme 3rd Party Routers Site

Airport Extreme 3rd Party Routers Site

wired writes "After purchasing Airport Express yesterday and discovering that I couldn't use WDS mode with my existing Netgear router, I realized that information on Airport Express and third party routers is scarce. So, today I started a site for the specific purpose of listing what routers work and what routers don't work with Airport Express in WDS mode. It's available at www.nilobject.com/apx/. I'm not trying to horde traffic, but if you have tried successfully or unsuccessfully to set up APX in WDS mode with a third party router, please let me know so that the list can be as definitive as possible for future APX users." It works well with my WRT54GS with Sveasoft firmware.

Adobe PDF Printer Missing in Panther

Here is another problem I did not notice at first. But when I checked, sure enough the Adobe PDF printer was gone from the list of printers. Following these steps worked, I am now able to print to the virtual printer again in Panther. Another great tip from MacFixIt. Yesterday we covered an issue where installing Panther disabled the Adobe PDF Printer virtual printer; we directed readers to an Adobe Forums thread where Adobe had made available a shell script for recreating/reinstalling Adobe PDF Printer. Reader Len Goff passed along a set of manual instructions for recreating this virtual PDF printer: 1. Launch Printer Setup Utility from the Applications/Utilities folder 2. Hold down the Option key and click the Add button in the Printer List Window 3. Select Advanced from the Printer conncetion drop down menu 4. In the Device Field, select Adobe PDF (pdf) 5. For Device Name, type... [Breaking Windows]

Trouble in Macromedia-Land

Yet another good reason why we need to boycott any and ALL companies that decide to use DRM technology. Especially Macrovision. These are the same MORONS who screwed Intuit and caused the mass exodus of Intuit's customers.

Many folks are experiencing a problem that Macromedia Studio MX 2004 applications don't launch in Panther. The just bounce once on the dock, and nothing happens. This happens after an archive and install.

The solution is to remove the Macrovision folder in [Mac HD]: Library: Preferences. You might need admin privileges. Then, you will have to re-activate your software. Further information is buried in the Macromedia Support site.
