Avid Xpress DV pricing cut - Get Real!
Who are these people trying to kid here? Avid has cut the price of their Xpress software because NOBODY is buying it. People - this product SUCKS! Why? I'll give you ONE reason that says it all. DONGLE. This product uses a dongle to enforce anti-piracy techniques. If you were unfortunate enough to lose or worse yet, have your dongle STOLEN, you would have to practically BUY the software all over again in order to use it!!! I even called Avid about this and that is the exact response I got back. So let me ask you...say you are on a remote shoot and somehow your dongle got misplaced...your $8,000 portable editing workstation just got rendered USELESS. Explain THAT to your boss, or worse yet - your CLIENT! No thank you Avid. I am sticking to Final Cut Pro. Not only is it a BETTER product, they treat the honest customers as they should, like ADULTS. Those who are going to pirate the software are doing it and don't need a dongle!!! So Avid...who are you really hurting? YOURSELVES YOU MORONS!!! Get real....
