MTV to launch iTunes-like music download service in early 2004

HA! Good luck. MTV is sooo freakin CHEAP that it will be amazing if they actually hired some competent people to put this thing together. I predict this will FLOP horribly and MTV will get spanked so hard that they will think twice before ever getting into ANYTHING dealing with computers. MTV - Stick to what you know best - REALITY TV, becaue you sure as hell don't play music or videos anymore...

"MTV Networks is preparing to launch a music download service with plans to go up against Apple's iTunes and other competitors, said MTV chief Tom Freston Monday," Kenneth Li reports for Reuters. "Freston, who addressed investors at the Harris Nesbitt Gerard Playtime conference, said the as-yet-unnamed service would debut within the first half of next year, but gave few details.
